» Senior Coordinator, New Business Development, Ontario Division

Full time, permanent position

The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada is an international leader in providing innovative services for people with MS and their families and advancing global research into the cause and cure of multiple sclerosis.

The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, Ontario Division, is seeking a senior coordinator to assist with the planning, logistics and execution of partnership and third party events, and provide customer service to our corporate clients and volunteers. This role will also support sponsorship initiatives and media campaigns for the MS Walk, MS Bike Tours, MS Carnation Campaign, MS Read-A-Thon and Women Against MS program.  The successful candidate will support and report to the Manager, New Business Development.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support in the logistics and execution of our corporate partnership and New Business Development events, including two galas and a large corporate golf tournament.
  • Assist external supporters with Third Party events within the GTA. 
  • Maintain databases associated with partnership events and sponsorships for Ontario Division Fundraising.
  • Assist in the writing of sponsorship proposals and other correspondence to corporate clients.
  • Liaise with multiple Program Managers on contract fulfillment for sponsorship agreements.
  • Support the execution of media campaigns for Ontario Division Fundraising Events.
  • Provide administrative support to New Business Development team.
  • Support staff for all MS Society fundraising events within Ontario Division.

Qualifications

  • University Degree or Community College Diploma with a minimum of three years event experience, preferably in a fundraising or corporate environment or the equivalent education and experience.
  • Proven event management and logistics planning skills.
  • Excellent client relationship management skills.
  • Basic knowledge of sponsorship and media relations’ processes and procedures.
  • Self-starter with excellent organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to deal professionally with external clients and internal partners.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently in a fast paced, high pressure, professional environment.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities with overlapping deadlines.
  • Superior computer skills, with experience in Microsoft Office and Excel spreadsheets, and an aptitude for database systems.
  • Must have a valid Class G driver’s license
  • A criminal background check will be required upon hire

Location: Toronto with occasional travel within Ontario.

Evening and weekend work is a component of this job, as is physical labour.

  Ontario Division

2 full-time, permanent positions

The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada is a dynamic, non-profit organization leading the way in finding a cure for multiple sclerosis and enabling people affected by MS to enhance their quality of life.

This position will be responsible for the administration of funding programs (Equipment and Special Assistance) to primary clients of the MS Society of Canada on behalf of Ontario Division, ensuring adherence to accepted and best practices in accordance with the guiding principles of the National Framework for Client Services and approved funding program policies and guidelines.  The majority of the work will be conducted by telephone, serving our clients located throughout Ontario.

Reporting to the Director, Client Services, the successful incumbent will ensure the efficient and timely delivery of service by liaising with health care professionals, service providers, government agencies and community resources to ensure that client needs are met. 

This position is a position of trust in Client Services.  The incumbent will be required to complete the screening process including completion of appropriate background checks in compliance with the National Screening Measures Policy (2006).

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and administer the funding programs for non-chapter areas and for chapters as required
  • Respond to inquiries from the public (including healthcare professionals, equipment suppliers and clients) by supplying information on the Equipment and Special Assistance Programs in collaboration with other members of the Funding Programs Team
  • Refer primary clients to community health care professionals for assistance in obtaining an assessment of their needs
  • Support clients in advocating on their own behalf to enable them to enhance their quality of life
  • Advocate on behalf of, and/or direct primary clients to appropriate resources for possible alternate or cost-shared funding
  • Provide supportive assistance, as appropriate, to primary clients and their families, documenting the contact information and updating the Funding Program Team where necessary
  • Establish and maintain contacts within the community to provide alternate and shared funding as well as client-related services with a client centered approach
  • Consult with the Senior Coordinator, Funding Programs and other departmental staff to resolve concerns and program issues that may arise
  • Compile information and monthly reports based on funding program data
  • Maintain equipment inventories
  • Assist with program training and support to chapter volunteers and staff
  • Provide appropriate support and assistance at MS Society events
  • Participate in health fairs and community events as required

Qualifications:

  • College Diploma in Social Services or related field with at least two years related experience including a solid understanding of:
    • administrative processes in a professional business environment
    • purchasing practices
    • problem solving and conflict resolution
    • setting priorities
    • experience interacting with individuals with disabilities desirable
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times and display discretion
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent telephone skills
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, negotiating and investigation
  • Active listening skills
  • Strong communication skills – oral and written
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with internal and external community contacts
  • Demonstrates positive enthusiasm and is a self-starter
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Office as well as a database system
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is preferable

Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.
