National Information Resource Centre

The National Information Resource Centre (NIRC) has a wealth of information on all aspects of MS. Information is distributed by e-mail, postal delivery, fax, or telephone. Due to copyright restrictions, the information is not available online. The majority of resources within the resource center exist in a computerized library database called the ASK MS Program.

Information Resource Centre services, including the ASK MS Program are available through our National and Division offices. Information is provided on diagnosis, treatments, complementary therapies, symptoms, genetics, psychological issues, and current research, using the following resources:

» ASK MS

ASK MS is a collection of over 2,000 print articles drawn from the publications of international MS Societies, medical journals, and other sources, many of which are not generally available in libraries. A computer database enables staff to quickly locate articles by subject, title, author, and other criteria.

» Medline

Medline is an index of international biomedical journals published by the National Library of Medicine (USA), offering summaries of scientific articles. You can also find Medline at www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi

» Online

IRC staff are skilled at finding accurate medical information and news. Tips on searching, and on evaluating websites and web information are also available.

The MS Society of Canada is a licensee of CANCOPY and abides by Canadian and international copyright law.
